Indian GP organisers shun race rumours
19 June 2013 – Indian Grand Prix organisers have described rumours that the race could be axed from next year's Formula 1 calendar as "totally baseless and malicious".
Having staged its debut Formula 1 race in 2011, the Buddh International Circuit holds a contract through 2015, although recent international reports claimed that promoter Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) had been enduring significant financial difficulties.
In response, a JPSI spokesperson said the claims were completely untrue.
"Some international news organisations are trying to spread rumours that JPSI may not host 2014 Indian GP. This is totally baseless and malicious," he explained.
"Our agreement with Formula One Management is to hold F1 races at Buddh International Circuit (BIC) till 2015, and we are fully committed to do that."
The spokesperson added: "There is no reason for us to give up hosting F1 races."
India hosts Round 16 of the 2013 season on the weekend of 26-27 October.
