Chilton: Marussia can score a point in 2013
27 June 2013 – Max Chilton hopes Marussia will be able to record its first Formula 1 point in 2013, explaining that the MR02 "has definitely got the ability" to achieve the milestone.
While reiterating Marussia's primary goal of outplacing main rivals Caterham in the Constructors' battle, having lost out last year due to Vitaly Petrov's 11th place finish at the Interlagos season finale, Chilton says scoring a point "is key" for the team.
"Tenth is our main goal, but the point is key," Chilton explained to ESPN. "Obviously we need a bit of luck on our side for that to happen, like anyone would, but the car has definitely got the ability to do it.
"[Marussia] nearly had the point in Brazil last year, without Timo [Glock] having his issue. We just need other people around us to have a few issues."
Moving on to discuss this weekend's British Grand Prix, Chilton is relishing the opportunity of racing a Formula 1 car in front of home support for the first time.
"I’m super excited," the 22-year-old added. "My first race in Australia was very exciting. But to have your first home Grand Prix, especially at Silverstone... it’s a big place.
"There are always big crowds, whether it is raining or not. Most of them are supporting the British drivers and there are four of us this year, so that is a bit of a boost as well."
