Webber ruing below par final sector
29 June 2013 – Mark Webber admits that he could have achieved more during Saturday's qualifying session at Silverstone, with the Red Bull driver narrowly losing out to team-mate Sebastian Vettel after a below par end to his final flying lap in the shootout phase.
Webber, who described the Mercedes cars of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg as "on another planet" this afternoon, will start the 52-lap Grand Prix from fourth on the grid, having finished just nine thousandths of a second behind Vettel.
"We were up against it to get on the front row against the Mercs, they’re on another level as they have been for the last few events," Webber told reporters at Silverstone. "It was disappointing to get pipped by Seb at the end by a hundredth, it was very close. I was happy with the first part of my lap, but I could have done better in the last sector."
Webber went on to explain that his setup is more geared towards Sunday afternoon's race, with the Australian confident of taking the fight to the Mercedes drivers ahead.
"We have a good balance for qualifying and race pace in terms of where we prioritised things," he said. "It should be interesting, we can get a good result from there."
