Hülkenberg set for first Nürburgring race
2 July 2013 – Although he has contested two German Grands Prix, Sauber driver Nico Hülkenberg will race at the Nürburgring in Formula 1 machinery for the first time this weekend.
Having entered the sport with Williams back in 2010, Hülkenberg made his first home appearance at Hockenheim, before a year as Force India's reserve driver saw him complete only one practice session during the most recent visit to the Nürburgring.
However, with plenty of feeder category experience under his belt, Hülkenberg is hopeful of adding to the point he achieved at last Sunday's British Grand Prix.
"I know the Nürburgring very well; since 2005 I have driven numerous races in several categories there, and, as far as I can remember, I won a race in every category there," said the former F3 Euro Champion.
"Although this is my third season, I have never raced at the circuit in a Formula 1 car, so this is a first for me. I guess, everything will be a bit faster and I might perceive things a little differently, but I know the track well and I am looking forward to a nice weekend."
Hülkenberg has recorded three points finishes so far this season; in addition to his aforementioned Silverstone result, he reached the top ten in Malaysia and China.
