Di Resta: Ferrari seat would be a dream
4 July 2013 – Force India’s Paul di Resta has said it would be ‘a dream’ for him to join Ferrari – and that he would ‘jump’ at the chance to make the move to the Scuderia in 2014, if the opportunity arises.
The Scot is performing well this season and once again scored points last weekend at the British Grand Prix, despite being demoted to the back of the grid after his car was found to be underweight post-qualifying.
Thus far in 2013, he has notched up points in seven of the eight races and is currently eighth in the Drivers’ Championship.
Despite that form though, and the competitiveness of his Force India, the 27-year-old told British newspaper, The Daily Mail, that the lure of the Prancing Horse would be too hard to resist.
“You would jump at it, definitely,” said di Resta, who actually has some Italian heritage. “Obviously it's every boy's dream as they grow up to get in a Ferrari at some point in their life, and being Italian is a nice thing, having the Italian blood.
“But I will concentrate on my job and let other people do their job.
“Where I am next year I don't know, but there are many points up for grabs [at each race]. That is the important bit - keeping your reputation high.
“I'm only trying to do what I can do. I've built my reputation in Formula One. I want to be in a winning seat, but it's down to the decision of the boards of other teams.
“I've still a lot of races with Force India this year so I'll keep concentrating on that and let other people do the work in the background.”
