Pirelli revises compound choices for Hungary
11 July 2013 – Pirelli has announced it is now going to take the medium and soft compound tyres to the Hungarian Grand Prix later this month. The Italian tyre manufacturer had planned to provide the hard and medium tyres, but has opted to make the changes as the new construction rubber will be used at the Hungaroring.
“It is correct that we will bring the medium and soft compounds to Hungary,” a Pirelli spokesperson confirmed to GPUpdate.net. “As a new construction will be introduced from Hungary onwards, the compound choices had to be adapted in order to stay in the window of two to three pit stops.”
Pirelli’s new construction tyres, which are being introduced after all the failures at the British Grand Prix, will be tested by the teams for the first time next week at Silverstone.
