Marussia and Pat Symonds part ways
16 July 2013 – Marussia has parted ways with technical consultant Pat Symonds, the Banbury-based team announced on Tuesday morning. The former Renault engineering chief joined the outfit as a consultant in 2011, his first job since the crashgate scandal of 2008.
In addition to overseeing Marussia's latest car designs, Symonds has played a key role in implementing new staff throughout the factory, with the 60-year-old explaining that the squad has "developed immeasurably" during his time onboard.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Marussia F1 Team over the course of the past two and a half seasons," he said. "The team has developed immeasurably during that time and it now has all the right people and resources in place to achieve great things in the future. I wish the team the success it so richly deserves."
The news comes soon after confirmation of Marussia's 2014 engine deal with Ferrari.
