Symonds begins work with Williams team
19 August 2013 – Acclaimed engineer Pat Symonds has started work with the Williams team and is expected to attend this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps.
Symonds, who left his Marussia consultancy role last month, joins the Grove-based outfit as its new Chief Technical Officer, effectively replacing Mike Coughlan.
Speaking at the time of the announcement, former Renault technical chief Symonds said: "I’m honoured to be asked to play a role in returning the team to its rightful place at the pinnacle of Formula 1. I’m immensely excited to begin this new challenge."
Symonds' new Williams role marks his full-blown return to Formula 1, having been involved in the dramatic race-fixing scandal of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix.
