Vettel plays down impact of puncture
23 August 2013 – Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel has brushed aside the impact of the puncture he suffered during second free practice at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday afternoon.
The German, who topped the combined timesheets ahead of team-mate Mark Webber, ended the second session early after his right-rear tyre gave way on the run to Blanchimont, but said the incident did not spoil an otherwise positive first day.
"We don't know what happened yet," the reigning World Champion explained to reporters after the session. "I lost the rear right very suddenly. We need to have a look, at the moment we are trying to understand. Other than that it was a positive day."
He added of the potential for adverse weather conditions later in the weekend: "Rain is very likely on Saturday and Sunday. The question is when, how much and where. We had a look at the car, but both of us seemed pretty happy with what we had."
Vettel's best time of 1:49.331 put him just over half a tenth in front of Webber.
