Di Resta aiming for Q3 appearance
23 August 2013 – Paul di Resta believes that Force India finds itself in a much stronger position at Spa-Francorchamps in comparison with last month's Hungarian Grand Prix, the Briton having recorded top ten finishes in both of Friday's free practice sessions.
Di Resta, who set the second fastest time in the opening session before slipping back to 10th in the afternoon, said the flowing nature of the Ardennes venue was always going to suit the VJM06 more than the twisty nature of the Hungaroring.
"Conditions were mixed this morning, but it was much better this afternoon," said the 27-year-old. "It’s safe to say that we seem to be further forward compared to where we were in Budapest and we always thought the car would be more suited to this track."
The former DTM Champion added: "At the moment it looks like we are in the mix for the top ten, but we need to carry a bit more speed into qualifying. We know that the rain might come tomorrow, so we have to be ready to maximise the conditions."
On the other side of the garage, team-mate Adrian Sutil ended the day 11th fastest.
