Vettel delighted with 'controlled' victory
25 August 2013 – Sebastian Vettel expressed his satisfaction after claiming a trouble-free Belgian Grand Prix victory at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on Sunday afternoon.
Having jumped ahead of pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap of the race, the Red Bull driver looked at ease throughout, gradually pulling away to take the chequered flag almost 20 seconds ahead of Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso.
"It was a fantastic race for us," explained Vettel. "On the first lap it helped to have the toe with Lewis; we just flew past. Once we were ahead we had incredible pace. The car was much better than expected. We had pace in hand to control the race – I really enjoyed it. And fortunately there was no rain, so there were no critical calls to make."
The triple World Champion added of his chances at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix: "Now we'll look ahead to Monza, where we perhaps don't expect to be as strong."
Vettel heads the championship standings on 197 points, 46 clear of Alonso.
