Hamilton expects Singapore improvement
25 August 2013 – Lewis Hamilton reckons Mercedes will find itself in a much stronger position when the final phase of flyaway races gets underway, the Briton pinning his hopes on upgrades that are scheduled to arrive for the Italian and Singapore Grands Prix.
Having started Sunday afternoon's Belgian Grand Prix from pole position, Hamilton could do nothing to hold back the advances of Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso, claiming that Red Bull and Ferrari have stronger overall packages at present.
"It was a tough race. These guys [Vettel and Alonso] were a little faster than us, but I’m really happy with the result," the 2008 World Champion explained. "When I came into this weekend, I didn’t think we’d have as good a package as these two here.
"Now we'll go away and see if we can improve for Monza. But definitely when we get to [the following round in] Singapore we'll have a much better chance there."
Hamilton now occupies third in the standings, 58 points behind leader Vettel.
