Horner denies Ricciardo deal completed
26 August 2013 – Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has moved to quash speculation that a deal to take Daniel Ricciardo to the Milton Keynes-based outfit has been sealed, stating that any announcement will take place after next month's Italian Grand Prix.
The retiring Mark Webber informed Australian broadcaster Channel 10 in the build-up to yesterday's race in Belgium that team chiefs had already made the final decision on who would replace him, indicating that Ricciardo was the man chosen to fill the seat.
"The decision's made," Webber explained at Spa-Francorchamps. "We all know who it is. I'm happy with that decision. It's good for him and good for Australia."
Horner quickly denied the claims, maintaining that other drivers are still in the frame.
"There's plenty of speculation about but nothing has been signed yet," he said. "The situation is still as I said before the race; we've got time to contemplate who we're going to put in the other seat and there will be no announcement certainly before Monza.
"I think comments get taken out of contest sometimes and Mark obviously isn't privy to all of the discussions with drivers. But when there's something to announce we'll certainly announce it."
