Di Resta sets sights on Q3 showing
6 September 2013 – Paul di Resta is optimistic that Force India will be able to make the overnight gains required to fight for a place in the final stage of qualifying at Monza on Saturday.
Although the Scot missed out on a top ten spot during Friday practice at the Italian venue, having trailed McLaren's Sergio Pérez by 0.203 seconds on the combined timesheets, he feels Q3 is "definitely achievable" for the Silverstone-based outfit.
"The car seems to be relatively well balanced, but we've not been able to break into the top ten yet," di Resta told reporters. "So we need to work away tonight to try and improve things a bit more. Making Q3 is the big target, which is definitely achievable.
"The field looks quite spread out, certainly compared to some other races, but we seem to be close to McLaren. The tyres are performing in line with our predictions and we've got plenty of data to go through."
Team-mate Adrian Sutil ended the day 13th fastest. The German, whose best result of fourth came at Monza in 2009, gave up his car for reserve driver James Calado in FP1.
