Ricciardo: Top five finish not far away
8 September 2013 – Daniel Ricciardo has urged Toro Rosso to maintain its current level of development for the final seven races, suggesting a top five finish is within the team's sights.
Having impressively claimed seventh on the grid, the new Red Bull signing was able to maintain his position during Sunday afternoon's Italian Grand Prix, in the process equalling his career-best finish achieved at the Shanghai circuit earlier this season.
"I am pleased with that!" Ricciardo explained after the race. "I think I got the most out of the car, managing to keep the guys behind me and the low downforce set-up certainly helped us down the straights. The others got close to me in the second sector, but I was able to pull away once we got to the high speed sections, which we knew would be our strong point.
"We must keep pushing hard on the car development, because hopefully, a top five finish is not too far away."
Ricciardo now moves ahead of team-mate Jean-Éric Vergne in the championship standings, the latter retiring from a top ten position in the early stages of the race.
