Rosberg 'confident' over race potential
21 September 2013 – Nico Rosberg is confident that Mercedes will enjoy strong race pace during tomorrow evening's Singapore Grand Prix, for which he has qualified on the front row of the grid.
Despite missing out to pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel by just 0.091 seconds, having opted to complete one more run than his fellow German in Saturday's final qualifying phase, Rosberg has his sights set on taking the fight to his Red Bull rival in race trim.
"Sebastian has been very quick all weekend," began Rosberg. "It was very, very close again, so it's a pity [to miss out on pole]. One tenth more would have been possible somewhere! But it's still a great result and a good position to start the race tomorrow.
"I'm confident about our race pace. It's looking OK, so a great result is possible."
Fellow Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton lapped more than three tenths of a second slower on his final Super Soft effort, leaving the former World Champion in fifth place.
