Vettel: This doesn't happen by luck
22 September 2013 – Sebastian Vettel has spoken of admiration for his Red Bull team after claiming the most commanding win of the 2013 season so far at the Singapore Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver, who unleashed relentless pace at both the start of the race and after the sole Safety Car period, ultimately took the chequered flag more than half a minute ahead of nearest rival Fernando Alonso, later praising an "incredible" car.
"The start was hairy," began Vettel, whose Marina Bay triumph is his seventh of the campaign. "It was difficult with Nico [Rosberg], who made a better start than me. Luckily he went a little too deep into the first corner. This was crucial as we had very good pace. The Safety Car was difficult but we also had very strong pace after that.
"The car was just incredible. This doesn't happen by luck, there is a lot of hard work behind it all. It was a pleasure to drive the car around this crazy track this evening."
Vettel now holds a 60-point lead over Ferrari driver Alonso in the title race, a margin that equates to more than two victories with six rounds of the season remaining.
