Vergne confident of return to form
30 September 2013 – Jean-Éric Vergne believes his Toro Rosso team will enjoy improved performance in the next handful of races, having struggled at the recent Singapore Grand Prix.
While team-mate Daniel Ricciardo crashed out at the Marina Bay circuit, Vergne could only finish 14th, almost a lap behind winner Sebastian Vettel. But with vastly different circuits on the horizon, the Frenchman is confident that the outfit can return to form.
"We're now going to circuits that should suit the car better than Singapore," explained Vergne on the official Toro Rosso website. "I'm confident we can be competitive in Korea, a circuit I like and which has characteristics that should work in our favour.
"I finished in eighth there last year and I made my debut there in 2011, running in Friday morning's free practice, so it's got a few good memories for me as well."
Heading to Korea, Toro Rosso lies seventh in the standings on a total of 31 points.
