Massa has 'good opportunities' for '14
3 October 2013 – Felipe Massa says he has "good opportunities" for the 2014 Formula 1 campaign as his search for new employers continues after being dropped from Ferrari's line-up.
The Brazilian has been assessing his options since the Italian marque announced its plans to bring back Kimi Räikkönen next season. And although he has avoided great detail about the teams he is talking to, he is hopeful of landing a competitive seat.
"I'm concentrating until the last race [with Ferrari] but we're talking with a few teams," Massa explained during Thursday's press conference in Korea. "For the moment we are aware, I think, of some good opportunities. But it's better to wait and say at the right time. I'm quite optimistic that I'm going to find a good direction, a good solution."
Massa reiterated that he will not settle for a midfield drive in 2014: "I will not change my mind. I want to have a car that can give me some good possibilities to fight, not a car in which I would not have a chance to fight. If I have that, I'm not interested."
With just six races remaining at Ferrari, for which he has contested the past eight seasons, Massa says he is determined to end his spell at the team on a high note.
"I feel comfortable inside the car and managed to get some points in the last races," said Massa. "I'm just concentrating to carry on like that and to try and get some more podiums, some better results even from what I have had until now. I think qualifying is going well too, so let's try to do everything we can to get some good results now in these last six races and finish well with Ferrari after our long and nice time together."
