Sauber extends Ferrari engine deal
4 October 2013 – Sauber has finally confirmed an extension to its Ferrari engine deal, ensuring that the Italian manufacturer will supply its 1.6-litre turbocharged powerplants from 2014.
Ferrari has supplied Sauber since the 2010 campaign, when Peter Sauber bought back his team in the wake of BMW's departure. It had previously joined forces with the Swiss outfit between the 1997 and 2005 seasons, before the four-year works spell.
Sauber team boss Monisha Kaltenborn said of the renewed deal: "We are proud to extend our relationship with such a prestigious and renowned brand and look forward to entering the 2014 season with a strong and reliable partner like Ferrari."
The announcement leaves just Lotus to officially publicise its engine partner ahead of the major regulation changes, although it is widely expected to remain with Renault.
