Vettel: We've got the balance right
5 October 2013 – Sebastian Vettel believes that Red Bull has struck the perfect setup balance for this weekend's Korean Grand Prix, having taken a comfortable pole position on Saturday.
The German, who lapped just over two tenths faster than nearest rival Lewis Hamilton in the final shootout phase, was fastest of all in both the first and third sectors of the lap, which feature a mixture of long straights and flowing, high speed corners.
Speaking in the post-qualifying press conference, Vettel said: "We got the balance right. We're competitive down the straights, which is good for the race. I wasn't entirely happy after practice yesterday so we can be happy with what we've achieved."
He added: "[The battle with Mercedes] was fairly close as we could see. It was a very, very good lap in Q3 on my first attempt. I knew it would be tricky to beat that time. I tried again but on the second run I caught up with Kimi [Räikkönen] on the warm-up lap.
"Fortunately the first lap was good enough. As we expected Mercedes was strong."
Mark Webber finished third in the sister Red Bull, but will start tomorrow's Grand Prix from 13th following his 10-place grid penalty triggered by the Singapore 'taxi ride'.
