Hamilton 'extracted most' from car
5 October 2013 – Lewis Hamilton says he extracted the maximum from his car during qualifying for the Korean Grand Prix, conceding that pole-sitter Sebastian Vettel was out of reach.
The Mercedes driver, who topped both practice sessions on Friday, trailed his Red Bull rival by just over two tenths of a second in the final shootout phase on Saturday, having been unable to match the reigning World Champion's overnight gains.
"You always hope [pole is possible], but we did as good a job as we could. I got the most out of the car," Hamilton said in the post-qualifying press conference. "There's always a little bit of room to improve, but in general it's been a pretty good weekend."
When asked if he is concerned by the likes of Ferrari and Lotus ahead of tomorrow's race, Hamilton responded: "There are threats all around but I'm just looking forward. I really hope we can fight with them [Red Bull] in the race tomorrow. We will see."
Team-mate Nico Rosberg finished fourth, but starts third after Mark Webber's penalty.
