We deserved more, says Hamilton
6 October 2013 – Lewis Hamilton says his Mercedes team "deserved more" from the Korean Grand Prix, after the Briton and team-mate Nico Rosberg endured troublesome afternoons.
Having started from the front row, Hamilton dropped to third on the approach to Turn 3, before hitting tyre issues in the second stint. Rosberg then caught up and launched an attack, but his front wing dropped down and forced and unscheduled pit-stop.
Both men came back out in the train that had formed behind the fourth-placed Sauber of Nico Hülkenberg, with Hamilton salvaging fifth and Rosberg recovering to seventh.
"It was fun battling with Fernando [Alonso], but disappointing for us," Hamilton told reporters at the Korea International Circuit. "We deserved more as a team today.
"The car was feeling OK. But the right-front was destroyed all of a sudden. It wasn't graining, it was dead. It was very difficult and was really what lost us so much time."
Of his battle with Hülkenberg, who held on to equal his career-best result, Hamilton said: "The traction he had was incredible. It was not a great race, but that's life."
