Kovalainen to drive in FP1 in Japan
9 October 2013 – Caterham reserve driver Heikki Kovalainen will take part in the opening free practice session at Suzuka in Japan this weekend, it has been announced.
Kovalainen, who lost his race seat with Caterham at the end of last year, will drive Charles Pic's car for the first 90-minute session. It will be his fifth run in FP1, following similar outings in Bahrain, Spain, Belgium and Italy.
“Suzuka's going to see the return of @H_Kovalainen to Friday track action. Heikki will be driving FP1 for us in @Charles_Pic1's car,” Caterham confirmed via its Twitter account, @MyCaterhamF1.
“Whenever @H_Kovalainen is asked about his favourite tracks, he always mentions sector 1 in Suzuka as one of his personal favourites,” Caterham added. “If you're on track on Friday in Suzuka give @H_Kovalainen a wave! (he might be a bit too busy to wave back, so apologies in advance!)”
