Vettel: I'm happy with second place
12 October 2013 – Sebastian Vettel has refused to dwell on the KERS issues he suffered in the closing stages of qualifying at Suzuka, insisting he is content with second on the grid.
The German, who topped the penultimate phase, was hindered in the final shootout with the KERS problem that presented itself in third practice. But he played down its impact and instead praised team-mate Mark Webber for claiming pole position.
"We had a problem this morning, but I don't think that made a difference in terms of finding a rhythm," said Vettel. "Mark did a very good lap. We had an issue in qualifying but I'm not a fan of 'without this, with this'. It is unknown. The fact is we are P2."
He added: "The car was phenomenal today. I enjoyed qualifying and I'm happy."
Webber described pole as "a little bit hollow" in the wake of Vettel's problems.
