Prodromou to make McLaren return
12 October 2013 – Peter Prodromou, Red Bull's chief aerodynamicist, will return to McLaren when his contract expires at the end of next year. The arrival of the Briton, who has worked alongside Adrian Newey since 2006, will coincide with Honda's return to the sport.
Confirming the deal at Suzuka, McLaren Managing Director Jonathan Neale has hinted that Prodromou will be the first in a sequence of important signings.
"We have recruited Peter," Neale confirmed on Saturday. "We are really excited about him joining the team. It is not a one-off thing, in that we have made some moves during the course of this year. There are also some other things that we are doing to strengthen our team, so it is a series of moves as we head to 2015 with Honda to make sure this team stays at the forefront of Formula 1 and is set for winning ways."
Red Bull drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, who have locked out the Suzuka front row, spoke highly of Prodromou when quizzed about a move earlier on Saturday.
"He's obviously been a very, very strong character in the background, responsible for a lot of good stuff that has happened to us over the last couple of years," said Vettel.
"Peter's a great guy," added Webber. "I've always enjoyed working with him. Obviously he's an integral part of the team and did a good job. He's been there a long time."
