Domenicali understands Massa stance
14 October 2013 – Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali says he is understanding of Felipe Massa's decision to ignore instructions from the pit wall during Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix.
Massa, who had outqualified team-mate Fernando Alonso for the third time in four events, was requested to let the Spaniard through in the opening stages of the Suzuka race, but he instead held firm and forced a genuine battle for track position.
Despite the situation, Domenicali remains mindful of the fact that Massa is fighting for his F1 future, and insists he will continue to receive the "total support" of the team.
"Felipe is trying to be as quick as possible, and I can understand his feeling," said Domenicali. "But of course he will find the team totally supporting him until the end of the season. No problem. At the end of the day Fernando overtook him on the track."
Alonso finished fourth, while Massa came home 10th after a drive-through penalty.
