New helmet design for Fernando Alonso
23 October 2013 – Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso will sport a special livery on his crash helmet this weekend at the Indian Grand Prix to celebrate the fact he now holds the record for scoring the most points in F1.
Alonso beat Michael Schumacher's record and reached the 1571 point marker in Japan, when he brought his F138 home in fourth place.
“I am very proud of having become the driver with the most points in the history of this sport, even if for a few years now, with the change to the points system, you get more,” he said after the race at Suzuka.
“Now I want to celebrate this record and think about the next race in India. This one is already in the past.”
The new helmet design includes the number 1571 – for obvious reasons – along with the words: ‘F1 points World Record’. There is also a thank you to his fans in three languages, English, French and Italian, all on top of an unusual white background [see pictures above].
