Kvyat gets FP1 runs in America, Brazil
24 October 2013 – Future Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kvyat will take part in opening practice for the United States and Brazilian Grands Prix next month, the Italian team confirmed on Thursday.
Kvyat, 19, was announced as Jean-Éric Vergne's team-mate for the 2014 campaign on Monday evening, with long-time favourite António Félix da Costa being overlooked.
Although the Russian appeared at the Silverstone Young Driver Test in July, he has not yet gained the required Super Licence to compete. He will therefore carry out an additional test in a two-year-old Formula 1 car before his pair of practice outings.
Kvyat is also in the running for this year's GP3 title, with just seven points separating himself and current leader Facu Regalia ahead of the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
