Court challenge delayed, race goes on
25 October 2013 – This weekend's Indian Grand Prix will go ahead as planned, after the Indian Supreme Court delayed a hearing on a petition seeking its cancellation over a tax dispute.
"The hearing will now take place next week," one of the lawyers involved in the case is quoted as saying by the AFP news agency. "This means the race can go ahead."
Campaigner Amit Kumar, who was behind an initial tax debate two years ago, alleged that race organisers had not fulfilled tax duties for the race last year, with the event coming under the headline of entertainment as opposed to sport after a 2011 ruling.
The Indian Grand Prix will not feature on the 2014 calendar, with its future under threat.
