Rosberg: Red Bulls are just too quick
25 October 2013 – Nico Rosberg reckons he is fighting for third position at this weekend's Indian Grand Prix, describing Red Bull as "just too quick" after the opening day in Greater Noida.
While Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber comfortably topped the first two sessions, Rosberg wound up sixth, two places behind Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
And with a pace deficit of 0.860 seconds, made worse by severe understeer in the afternoon, Rosberg feels the final step on the rostrum is the maximum achievable.
"We are fighting for third place because the Red Bulls are just too quick," said Rosberg. "It's doable; it's a lot of work ahead of us tonight, but I'm quite confident.
"Pole position is out of the question for us because the Red Bulls are too fast, especially Vettel. It's a bit of a pity but that's the way it is, so third place is the target."
Hamilton shared a similar viewpoint to Rosberg, agreeing that given Red Bull's Friday form, pole position and the race victory are both out of the question for Mercedes.
