Drivers given warning over track limits
31 October 2013 – Drivers have been warned that track limits will be more strictly governed at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after a number of contentious scenarios in India.
In the notes issued for Thursday's team manager gathering at the Yas Marina Circuit, governing body the FIA made clear that it will not accept drivers running wide and gaining advantage at Turns 6, 9 and 12, the location of the venue's three chicanes.
It has also been clarified that if two drivers enter the Turn 8/9 chicane, which follows on from and precedes a long straight, the leading driver will be reported directly to the stewarding panel if it takes to the run-off area and gains an advantage over his rival.
Meanwhile, if the driver behind does the same and subsequently gets within the one-second DRS window as a result, it must refrain from activating the device.
