Teams set to trial 2014 tyres in Brazil
1 November 2013 – Formula 1 teams are due to trial Pirelli's 2014 tyres at the final round of the season in Brazil, with the manufacturer eager to gain first-hand feedback of its latest product.
The additional prototype rubber, which is expected to be used in the first or second practice sessions, has been given the support of the teams at this weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with final approval all that is required from governing body the FIA.
In preparation for next year's major rule changes, Pirelli hopes to carry out more tests soon after the campaign concludes, with motorsport chief Paul Hembery recently stating that its position could become untenable if additional running is not granted.
Next year, three, four-day pre-season tests are scheduled to take place. The first of these will be held at Jerez in southern Spain, before a pair of gatherings in Bahrain.
