Hülkenberg not bothered about team-mate
5 December 2013 – Nico Hülkenberg has said it doesn’t matter to him who Force India signs as his team-mate for next season.
Hülkenberg inked a “multi-year” deal to return to the Silverstone-based outfit on Tuesday, but the squad has still to decide on who will drive the sister car, although McLaren reject Sergio Pérez is thought to be the favourite.
“It doesn't really matter for me, to be honest,” Hülkenberg replied when quizzed by Sky Sports F1 on the matter.
“I [do] want to have a strong team-mate [though], one which is challenging me and I can challenge him - because that way we're pushing each other and the team forward," added the German.
“I know there's a few names around in the press but it's not my decision; it's the shareholders' decision and the team management and I'm sure it won't be long before we know.”
In addition to Pérez, current drivers Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta are also understood to be being considered, although the latter has admitted this week that it is ‘unlikely’ he will stay on. The Scot is expected to return to the DTM or possibly switch to IndyCar.
