Piquet's son enters Toyota Racing Series
9 December 2013 – Pedro Piquet, son of three-time Formula 1 World Champion Nelson, will make his car racing debut in New Zealand's Toyota Racing Series in January.
The 15-year-old has signed up for the five-round campaign with M2 Competition, which fielded ultimate title winner Nick Cassidy and Macau Grand Prix winner Alex Lynn earlier this year.
"My goal for TRS 2014 is to be competitive against the other drivers and gain more experience driving formula cars," said Piquet, a race winner on the international karting scene.
"Nowhere else in the world can you do 15 races in five weeks, so TRS is the best championship for drivers who are looking to further their knowledge and experience."
The series, consisting of five triple-headers, will get underway at Teretonga on January 11, and ends at Manfield Park on February 9.
