Ecclestone would prefer three double points races
23 December 2013 – While a lot of personalities within Formula 1 has wondered why Formula 1 would need a double points race at the end of the season Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said he would have even opted for double points in the final three races to make the championship more exciting towards the end of the year.
“Personally my preference would be for the final three races to be worth double points,” Ecclestone told The Daily Telegraph. “But it may well be that the rule is cancelled altogether at the next [Strategy Group] meeting in January. I think it should be the final three races or nothing. The final three races would mean the championship is kept interesting for everyone – fans, press and television – right until the end.”
