Sirotkin expects track time in Sochi
24 December 2013 – Sergey Sirotkin was named Sauber's test driver for the upcoming season last weekend. In an interview the Russian has said he expects to be in the car during a free practice session in Russia's first Grand Prix.
Speaking with Russian news site F1News Sirotkin has said about his role at Sauber in the upcoming season: “My agreement with Sauber states that I will be the team's third driver in the upcoming season. The agreement doesn't state the exact number of free practice sessions I am allowed to do for them but I will join the team at every Grand Prix weekend as the team's third driver.
“I have no doubt though that I will be allowed to be in the car for one of the free practice sessions at Sochi though. We furthermore agreed that I will receive plenty of testing miles to get my Superlicense. There is no rush at this moment to get my license but our aim is to get my license before the start of the season or early into the season.”
Meanwhile Sirotkin will be racing in the World Series by Renault. “My aim for the upcoming season is pretty clear. I want to battle for the championship title, or at least top three.”
