New Jersey silent over contract claims
7 January 2014 – Organisers of the proposed Grand Prix of America in New Jersey are remaining silent over claims by Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone that the race contract has been breached.
In a recent interview with Autoweek, Ecclestone said he has not been paid since the initial agreement was signed back in 2011, while also revealing that several groups are contemplating the possibility of taking over the event from the management currently in place to ensure that it goes ahead as planned.
When quizzed over the matter by GPUpdate.net, a spokeswoman for the race explained: "We appreciate the opportunity, but we don't comment on media reports or financial matters."
Ecclestone had stated in December that he was certain of the race taking place in 2015, which is the current scheduled date following a pair of postponements in 2013 and 2014.
