Irvine given suspended six-month sentence
9 January 2014 – Ex-Formula 1 driver Eddie Irvine has been handed a suspended six-month sentence after a nightclub brawl more than five years ago.
The Irishman and Gabriele Moratti, the son of former Milan mayor and education minister Letizia Moratti, were involved in a fight in the VIP area of a Milan club back in December 2008, following which they sued each other.
The incident allegedly arose due to a text message Irvine had sent to Moratti's ex-girlfriend.
Irvine drove for Jordan, Ferrari and Jaguar over ten Formula 1 seasons, notching up four victories.
