Kaltenborn: Van der Garde has the right attitude
21 January 2014 – Sauber team boss Monisha Kaltenborn says new test and reserve driver Giedo van der Garde has "the right attitude" to continue his personal development throughout the 2014 Formula 1 campaign.
Although van der Garde has lost his full-time seat, following Caterham's decision to change both drivers, he will take part in various Friday practice sessions and tests this year, with a view to returning to the grid in 2015.
"We are happy to have Giedo van der Garde on board," said Kaltenborn. "He has four years of experience in GP2 and he drove one year in Formula 1. These are good credentials to work successfully with our team.
"Many times Giedo has shown his talent as a race driver. At the same time the team would like to support him to further develop his skills. Giedo has the right attitude to take the next step forward."
Van der Garde will work alongside race drivers Adrian Sutil and Esteban Gutiérrez this season.
