McLaren fires up new MP4-29 at Woking
22 January 2014 – McLaren has fired up its latest Formula 1 challenger, entitled the MP4-29, for the first time.
On Tuesday evening, staff gathered at the team's Woking factory to hear the new car come to life, just a few hours after it was confirmed that the chassis had passed governing body the FIA's mandatory crash tests.
"Historic moment! MP4-29 has been fired up for the first time – turbos are back in F1," said the team on Twitter.
McLaren will use Mercedes' turbocharged engine for a sole season, before reuniting with Honda in 2015.
