Juncadella joins Force India as reserve
24 January 2014 – Daniel Juncadella has joined Force India as its reserve driver for the 2014 Formula 1 season.
The 22-year-old Spaniard, who is combining his duties with another full campaign in the DTM with Mercedes, will represent the Silverstone-based team at all 19 races, and is set to take part in "several" practice sessions.
In addition to his Friday outings, Juncadella will conduct virtual mileage in the outfit's dedicated simulator.
"Joining Sahara Force India is a dream come true," said Juncadella, who tested for Williams last year. "It's a fantastic opportunity for me to learn and will hopefully take me a step closer to eventually racing in Formula 1.
"To work with the team at the track and in the factory will give me some valuable experience and I will do my best to make a contribution to help the team achieve its goals in 2014."
Juncadella boasts an impressive collection of feeder results, having won the Macau Grand Prix in 2011 before triumphing in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship and Masters of Formula 3 event the following year.
