Ricciardo plays down testing troubles
31 January 2014 – Daniel Ricciardo says Red Bull should not be overly concerned after its troublesome Jerez test.
The Milton Keynes-based outfit, winner of the past four Drivers' and Constructors' world titles, could only put together 21 laps over the course of the four-day gathering, having suffered engine and chassis cooling issues.
But Ricciardo reckons there is plenty of time to recover, with a three-week break until the next test in Bahrain.
"Time is on our side," he said. "We do have a few weeks, which is good. We know what the team is capable of, and we know how hard they work. I have seen that from the past few years of hanging around a little bit.
"I know what the team is like. You hear stories that they turn things around quicker than anyone else here, so that definitely gives me a lot of positivity and optimism about it all."
Ricciardo added that Red Bull is clear in its mind about what needs to be fixed after this week's test.
"I think the positives are that although we could not solve the issues here at the track, we know what needs to be solved," he said. "We just need more time to solve the issues. I think they are pretty clear in everyone's minds."
