Cars have become uglier, admits Alonso
7 February 2014 – Fernando Alonso is another driver to talk negatively about the aesthetics of this year's Formula 1 cars.
The Ferrari man says the sport is now uglier due to the variety of striking nose designs that surfaced in the run up to and at the opening pre-season test of the season in Spain, all the comply with the new regulations.
"They are uglier. I think we have to be honest with that, with our fans and ourselves," Alonso told CNN.
"They are not good enough, because people look at Formula 1 like the excellence of motorsport, aerodynamics, performance and technology. And when you look at the front part of the car, it doesn't look like that.
Alonso is confident, however, that teams will soon be able to come up with more elegant concepts.
"We will find different solutions," he said. "The engineers are clever enough to make the cars fast and beautiful."
