Haug tips Mercedes to win 2014 title
10 February 2014 – Former Mercedes motorsport chief Norbert Haug has tipped the Silver Arrows to win the 2014 world title.
The Brackley-based outfit is preparing to enter its fifth season since returning to Formula 1 as a works team and Haug, making reference to Red Bull's steady progress, says it is still on-track to reach its targets.
"It would not surprise me if the title goes to Stuttgart [Mercedes-Benz's headquarters] this year. This was the plan from the outset," Haug, who departed his role with the marque after the 2012 campaign, told SID.
"The Mercedes works team is now in its fifth year. It took Red Bull five years to claim its first victory."
Mercedes finished second to Red Bull in the 2013 standings, claiming three wins and a further six podiums.
