Frijns has eyes fixed on race seat
11 February 2014 – Robin Frijns is optimistic that he will be able to secure a Formula 1 race seat by the 2015 season.
The Dutchman, 22, is currently serving as one of Caterham's reserve drivers alongside Alexander Rossi, with ex-Toyota and Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi and Marcus Ericsson occupying the full-time drives.
Although disappointed not to be racing this year, he hopes an opportunity will arise in the near future.
"Of course, our goal for this year was to get a race seat," Frijns told GPUpdate.net.
"We were very close to getting one. We had long discussions with Caterham about it, but their answer was that they want to try me as a reserve first.
"I have one goal in mind and I want to achieve that goal. I will do everything for this. Whether it will be this year or the next: I will make it."
