Villeneuve to tackle World Rallycross in 2014
13 February 2014 – Jacques Villeneuve has teamed up with Albatec Racing to contest the 2014 World Rallycross Championship.
The 1997 Formula 1 World Champion will drive a Peugeot alongside team-mate and team boss Andy Scott in all 12 rounds of the season, which begins in Portugal in early May and finishes in Argentina in late November.
"Driving in Rallycross will be an entirely new experience for me, but from what I have seen on TV and video to driving the Albatec Racing Peugeot, this is by far one of the most exciting cars I have driven, the acceleration is unbelievable!" Villeneuve said.
"With the expansion of the series it should become a big success and I have the chance to win another FIA World Championship. Having met the team I know we can work together and achieve the success we want. I can't wait for the season to start."
In addition to his Formula 1 title, Villeneuve is also a winner of the IndyCar series and Indianapolis 500.
