Williams announces Petrobras partnership
18 February 2014 – Williams has signed a new multi-year partnership with Brazilian multi-national energy company Petrobras.
Williams and Petrobras' new agreement brings to an end a five-season break, with the Grove-based outfit previously using the brand's motorsport fuel product between the 1998 and 2008 Formula 1 campaigns.
With turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 power units arriving on the scene, Petrobras will spend the remainder of 2014 developing a new specialist fuel, which will be used by the Williams team from the 2015 season onwards.
In return, the Petrobras logo will be placed on the side of Williams' FW36 chassis and on team clothing.
"Petrobras and Williams have had a successful partnership before and we are both looking forward to reuniting for 2014," said Williams Founder and Team Principal Sir Frank Williams. "Technologically they are very strong and that will be important for the team as the new regulations have made fuel efficiency increasingly important."
Williams is expected to announce a new title partnership with drinks brand Martini in the near future.
