Williams confirms Nasr as reserve driver
22 February 2014 – Williams has signed Felipe Nasr as its test and reserve driver for the 2014 Formula 1 campaign.
The 21-year-old Brazilian, who finished fourth in the GP2 standings with Carlin last season, will attend all 19 races with the Grove-based outfit, and is set to take part in three tests and five opening practice sessions.
He will also undertake simulator work at the team's factory to aid with the development of the FW36.
"I'm really happy to be joining the Williams family," said Nasr, who gets his first run at this week's Sakhir test. "They have a great history in the sport and some of the greatest Brazilian drivers of all time have driven for the team, so it's an honour to join names such as [Nelson] Piquet, [Ayrton] Senna and [Felipe] Massa.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for me to make the next step in my career and I can't wait to get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car for the first time in Bahrain."
Nasr's long-time personal sponsor, Banco do Brasil, has joined Williams as an official partner.
