Sutil to drive on final day after fire
1 March 2014 – Sauber's Adrian Sutil has been recalled to drive tomorrow morning after completing just one lap on the penultimate test day in Bahrain.
The German's running was curtailed at the end of his installation run, when an engine issue led to a fire and forced a change of unit.
Sutil will be back in the cockpit for the the morning session, before handing over to team-mate Esteban Gutiérrez in the afternoon.
"Of course I would like to drive as much as possible, but you have to look at the overall picture and the team decided to focus on and get ready for the final day of testing tomorrow," Sutil reflected.
"I would rather have these issues appearing here at the test than on the first race weekend. It shows how complex the new car and powertrain are and that we are exploring them to the limits.
"Although the garage doors were closed, the engineers and mechanics worked incredibly hard and hopefully we'll have a better day tomorrow."
